Royal Mail Postage Label 12½p Printed on Gum Y25b
Issued 1st May 1984.
Royal Mail Postage Labels, or Framas, were issued as an experiment by the Post Office on 1st May 1984. Special machines were installed in four main post offices . These were in Cambridge, London, Southampton, and finally,Windsor. Initially values were available in ½p steps up to 16p. Consequently the machines were adjusted to provide the 16½p and 17p values. The machines were taken out of service on 30th April 1985. As a result of the tests being unsuccessful, the experiment was not repeated!
The design was by Martin Newton.
The machines gave postage-paid impressions in red. The paper was unwatermarked. The phophorised paper had a grey-green wavy background design. The labels were also imperforate with PVAD gum.
ERROR PRINTED on the GUMMED SIDE. This error (with several other values) came from a roll of erroneously installed paper.

In conclusion, all of our stamps are unmounted mint and in an excellent condition. We will mention any variation to this statement.
