Description
Machin U178 Colour Block 9p 2005.
The colour of these stamps is Yellow-orange.
De La Rue Dunstable Printing.
Issued 5th April 2005, printed at the Dunstable works with PVA (cream) gum.
From cylinder number D1 Phosphor D1 No Dot.
Specialised GB QEII Vol 4 Part 1 catalogue number U178.
Original printings of the De La Rue (DLR) Machins with PVA (cream) gum had the DLR logo situated adjacent to the first stamp in row 20 (bottom left). The 9p value was originally issued in July 2005 and this had the logo. However, this denomination was reissued on 1st April 2008, because of changes to the postal rates. But without the DLR logo. It does not appear that Gibbons have issued a new number as this “re-issue” is still called U178. (Presumably because the actual stamps are identical, and only collectors of cylinder blocks would notice the difference!). We have a Date Block with 10/01/08 as the actual date of print for this item.
Colour Block of eight – Orange.

We mention Stanley Gibbons catalogue numbers where it is possible. These numbers are either from the “Concise Stamp Catalogue” or from the “Specialised Stamp Catalogue Volume 4 Part 1”. We will try to mention any other numbering that we may use if not covered by the above. Sometimes particular stamps, booklets, or cylinder blocks are not recognized anywhere. Hence, in this case, we would use our own expertise to describe and value that item.
In conclusion, all of our stamps are unmounted mint and in an excellent condition. We will mention any variation to this statement.
